Harald Zapp is a founder and a managing director of the Next Big Thing AG, a Berlin-based IoT company builder. Harald is the entrepreneurial drive behind eciotify. He brings his extensive marketing and technology management experience to the venture, which is going to revolutionize the Internet of Things.
Harald founded relayr, an enterprise IoT middleware platform, in 2012 and took the role of the Chief Operating Officer since September 2015. He has more than 25 years of experience in the information technology and telecommunications industry. He served as Chief Executive Officer and Chief Operating Officer of ASC Telecom AG from 2007 to 2010. During his time, Harald was in charge of strategic planning as well as the management and expansion of the global sales structure with the aim of making the solutions of ASC telecom AG better known internationally – especially in the USA, Asian and Pacific countries, and to increase market shares. Prior to his move to ASC telecom AG, he held a number of different leading positions at Cisco Systems Germany from 1994 to 1997 which included heading the marketing department of Cisco in Germany for seven years. Harald believes that it’s just the right time for eciotify – that it is the logical step to elevate the Internet of Things and blockchain technology to a new level of real-world applications.

He has a strong focus on the topics of cryptographic algorithm design and system security. Sebastian published numerous papers and patents in this area. Before he held a research position at NEC Laboratories Europe, where he transferred foundational security research to products. He was a postdoctoral fellow at Tel Aviv University in Israel and obtained his PhD from the renowned Horst-Görtz Institute for IT-Security, one of the leading academic institutes for information security in Europe. Sebastian envisions eciotify as a playground for cutting-edge technology transfer in the intersection blockchain technologies and the Internet of Things . While developing secure technology, he is “making magic happen”.
